Here’s why Percy Hynes White’s Xavier isn’t in Wednesday season 2

Wednesday season 2 spoilers ahead.

Wednesday is back on our screens, but one big season 1 character is missing.

Xavier, an ally and love interest to the Addams Family protagonist, will not be back for season 2. The news was announced that actor Percy Hynes White would not be returning a while back, though now that the new episodes (consisting of part 1 of season 2) have dropped on Netflix, we need to know more about this once-promising character’s departure.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Wednesday herself, Jenna Ortega, called Percy’s exit, “A weird redirect, but we’re introducing so many different characters that I think it kind of will get lost.”

Here’s what we know about why Percy Hynes White’s Xavier isn’t in Wednesday season 2.

What happened to Wednesday star Percy Hynes White after season 1 wrapped?

Wednesday season 1 was released in October 2022, and Percy’s character Xavier seemed poised to be a key season 2 character, as a love interest and in his own right.

Then, in January 2023, he was accused of sexual assault by an anonymous user on X (previously Twitter).

Percy denied these allegations, posting in a statement on his Instagram Stories: “Earlier this year, somebody I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online. Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats. Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful. My friend Jane was falsely portrayed as a victim, and her attempts to set the record straight have been ignored. She gave me permission to include her in this message.

“The rumours are false. I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims. It’s very distressing to know that this misinformation has upset people. I’m really thankful for everyone who’s stood by me and helped share the facts. Harassment of my family, friends and coworkers needs to stop please. Thank you for taking the time to read this.”
