Meghan Markle’s relationship with the British royal family has been marked by moments of tension and public disagreements. Over the years, certain episodes have strained the relationship. Although Meghan has tried to ease the connection with the royal family members on several occasions, it doesn’t seem to be easy.

During Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding, a situation occurred that could have marked the future of the relationships. Despite efforts to keep the most contentious comments private, this one came to public light.

The conflict over the bridesmaid dress

In 2018, Meghan and Harry celebrated their royal wedding, and Charlotte was a bridesmaid. Kate Middleton and Meghan had a disagreement over Princess Charlotte’s dress, creating a highly tense atmosphere. The conflict arose over the dress’s fit and hem length, causing discomfort between them.

According to royal family biographer Tom Bower, Meghan and Kate were “really upset” during the discussions, and both expressed things they later regretted. “Both women were crying their eyes out!” an anonymous source mentioned in statements to The Mirror.

Meghan’s version of the incident

Meghan has explained on several occasions that the incident wasn’t a confrontation but an exchange of opinions between them. In her interview with Oprah Winfrey, she commented that Kate took responsibility and apologized to her, bringing her flowers after the altercation.

“I felt distressed by the conversation, but it wasn’t a confrontation,” Meghan explained, defending Kate’s stance. The Duchess of Sussex emphasized that she felt unfairly blamed for something that hadn’t happened. This caused more speculation about her relationship with the royal family.

Persistent tensions and lack of reconciliation

Despite the apologies and attempts to appease the conflict, the relationship between Meghan and the closest members of the royal family remains tense. The lack of real reconciliation has marked the family’s interactions, making it clear that the dress episode remains a sensitive topic.

Although Meghan has expressed her desire to heal the wounds, what happened continues to be a critical point in the royal family’s narrative. The revelations about this disagreement highlight the internal tensions that still persist within the Windsor family.
