King Charles and Prince Harry are one step closer to building a bridge.

The father and son reunited for the first time in 19 months, amid their ongoing estrangement, on Sept. 10 at Clarence House, the King’s London residence. It was there the pair enjoyed a private tea together before Harry continued on to an event for his Invictus Games Foundation.

According to Sky News, whlie there Harry said of his father, whose cancer diagnosis was announced in February 2024, “Yes, he’s great, thank you.”

The reunion comes two months after Harry’s chief communications officer was seen meeting with the King’s communication secretary, and three months after Charles’ younger son expressed his hope for restoring his connection to his family. However, the issue of his and Meghan Markle’s retracted security protections still looms large.

“There have been so many disagreements, differences between me and some of my family,” Harry told BBC in May. “This current situation that has been on our ongoing for five years with regard to human life and safety is the sticking point. It is the only thing that’s left.”

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
