Prince Harry and King Charles III are in the beginning stages of healing their fractured relationship, but Prince William is reportedly closing the door even tighter on a reconciliation.
The Duke of Sussex had a successful visit to the U.K. last week on several fronts — both personally and professionally. He and his father spent some quality time together while the British tabloids gushed about his likable personality during his appearances. Harry won the public and the press over, but William is not budging.

“William is back at the point where if you mention Prince Harry in his presence, he would throw you out of the room,” a palace source told the Daily Mail. “He’s doubling down.”

The insider believes that “William is more determined than ever to cut Harry off altogether.” The Prince of Wales is also reportedly “infuriated” by his younger brother’s “master plan to re-ingratiate himself” into the royal family. However, royal experts are pointing out that the future king isn’t reading the room and is consistently missing the mark when it comes to his royal duties.
Tina Brown’s Sept. 10 Fresh Hell Substack column revealed that King Charles is “currently less irritated with the prodigal Harry than he is with his elder son and heir.” That’s because William’s work schedule isn’t lining up with other senior royals.
“After five confirmed family vacations in the past seven months, William’s first-week-back diary pulsated with two outings: a father-daughter excursion to a Women’s Rugby World Cup pool match and a stroll through the Natural History Museum’s new gardens,” she wrote.
Daily Mail writer Amanda Platell issued a similar warning to William and Kate Middleton about bringing more personality to their royal engagements. Harry’s visit brought us something we have not seen for a very long time from the royals – laughter and joy,” she wrote on Sept. 12. “Which leaves many of us asking why William and Kate have decided to hide away and become the Prince and Princess of Boring.”
William is probably not pleased that Harry came in and stole his thunder, and it is likely why he’s trying to completely shut the door on a reunion. A sibling reconciliation does not seem to be a priority for William, but that decision is bringing about unexpected consequences for him.
