‘People who align with you are leaving!’ Robert Jenrick faces fierce grilling after BIGGEST Reform UK defection

Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick faced an intense GB News grilling today, as host Tom Harwood pointed out to him that those who “align with him are leaving the party”.

The questioning comes after it was revealed that high-profile Tory MP Danny Kruger is defecting to Reform UK because the Conservative Party is “over”.

Mr Jenrick defended the Conservatives, stating that they know “change is needed” and promised to spend the next four years working on improving the party, adding that he “does not agree with Mr Kruger’s choice to leave”.

Speaking on Britain’s News Channel, Tom asked Mr Jenrick: “The people who align with you in the party are leaving the Conservative Party.

“If Danny Kruger has gone across, that’s one fewer person in the shadow ministerial team arguing the same points as you.

“No doubt there will be members who follow his lead and move from the Conservative Party to the Reform Party as well.

“From your perspective, is it now a harder task to change the Conservative Party into something you would like to see?”

The Shadow Justice Secretary responded: “Well, Danny has made his decision, and I respect that, although I disagree with it.

“What my fellow members of the Conservative Party and I need to do now is focus on the future.

“There’s no point looking backwards, we’ve got to work as hard as possible to hold Labour to account and to be the best version of ourselves.

LATEST POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS:

“In the last couple of weeks, you can see some of the progress that has been made: the way in which the Conservative Party held Labour to account, which led to Angela Rayner’s resignation over tax evasion. .

“The scrutiny of Keir Starmer’s foolish, irresponsible decision to appoint Peter Mandelson as ambassador to Washington, a decision that ended with his resignation.

“Ensuring the right questions are asked is the work of opposition, and that’s exactly what we need to keep doing.

“I believe it will be a long road, but over time, we can begin to regain the trust of the public.”

The East Wiltshire MP revealed his switch to Nigel Farage’s party during a Monday afternoon press conference in Mayfair.

Mr Farage announced that Kruger would take charge of Reform UK’s preparations for entering Government.

The defection marks a historic moment as Kruger becomes the first serving Conservative MP to join Reform UK.
