Happy Birthday to Princess Marie Louise of Prussia, Countess of Schönburg-Glauchau, who turns 80 today! The Prussian Princess married to the uncle of the Count of Schönburg-Glauchau, Princess Marie Louise has often worn the spectacular Schönburg-Glauchau Tiara!
The magnificent Diamond Flower Tiara likely dates from the 19th century and was an heirloom of the Schönburg-Glauchau Family that they were able to take with them into exile after being expropriated from their centuries-old seat, Schloss Rochsburg, in 1945.
The Diamond Floral Tiara was notably worn by Countess Beatrix Széchenyi de Sárvár-Felsővidék when she married the Count of Schönburg-Glauchau in 1957.
In 1971, the Schönburg-Glauchau Tiara was worn by Princess Marie Louise of Prussia when she married Count Rudolf of Schönburg-Glauchau at Schloss Donaueschingen.
Countess Beatrix also likely wore the Schönburg-Glauchau Tiara for the Ball at Schloss St. Emmeram in Regensberg after the Wedding of her daughter, Countess Gloria von Schönburg-Glauchau, to the Prince of Thurn und Taxis in 1980.
Countess Beatrix wore the Schönburg-Glauchau Tiara for a Gala celebrating her 80th Birthday at Schloss St. Emmeram in 2010, held by her daughter, Gloria, the Princess von Thurn und Taxis.
Princess Marie Louise again wore the Schönburg-Glauchau Tiara for the Wedding Ball of the Prince of Prussia and Princess Sophie of Isenburg in 2011.
Most recently, her daughter, Countess Sophie wore the Schönburg-Glauchau Tiara for her Wedding to Carles Andreu Alacreu in Madrid in 2013. Let’s hope we see the Tiara worn again soon!
