You’ve got your tickets to the Mayhem Ball. But now it’s time for the real issue: what to wear?
I’m a Lady Gaga fan, but I’ve only been to one show before. It was in 2012, when she performed in London as part of her Born This Way tour. I was only 13, so my mum chaperoned me – which is pretty cool of her in hindsight.
Next Monday, I’ll be going to my second Gaga show, this time for the Mayhem Ball. It’s Gaga’s eighth concert tour – yes, eighth! Though, by her own admission, she’s only just getting started.
She’s a star who’s gone through many an era, stylistically and musically, so, if you want to dress on-theme, there’s many styles you can choose from: the avant-garde craziness of Artpop (my favourite style era), the classic jazz inspirations of Cheek to Cheek, the country-infused style of Joanne…
What to wear, by era
Thankfully, I know what I’ll be wearing: a Jean Paul Gaultier dress in his famous cyber dot print from By Rotation, the peer-to-peer fashion rental app. They teamed up with ticket site Viagogo to launch Born To Rotate, a concept store offering Gaga fans the chance to transform into their most iconic selves. The edit boasts a selection of high-end items based on Gaga’s different eras, curated by celebrity stylist Rhea Francois. My chosen dress was inspired by Artpop, of course. (Although, the shocking pink bag nods to both Chromatica and her pink dress at the 2019 Met Gala!)
You can rent the edit online, with 15% off all Born To Rotate items with the code VIAGOGO. (Available only in the UK, until 1st October.)
But, if you’re still unsure on your outfit, fear not: I’ve compiled a guide on what to wear according to your favourite Gaga era.
