Kemi Badenoch confirms Tories who don’t back ECHR plans to be BANNED from standing as MPs

Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch has said that Tories who don’t back her ECHR plans will not be allowed to stand as MPS at the next general election.

This comes after Ms Badenoch confirmed yesterday that the Conservatives will take the UK out of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Speaking to Camilla Tominey of GB News, the Tory leader said: “I was very clear at the Shadow Cabinets where we agreed completely.

“It was unanimous that we cannot have a party where people do not abide by manifesto commitments.

“If you do not agree with leaving the ECHR, then you should not and cannot stand as a Conservative candidate at the election.”

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
