Wedding of Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, Duke of Arjona

The House of Alba led the Spanish Nobility at the Wedding of Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, Duke of Arjona and Bárbara Mirjan at the Iglesia del Cristo de los Gitanos in Seville on October 4th.

Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, IV Duke of Arjona and XIII Count of Salvatierra, the fifth and favourite son of Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, the 18th Duchess of Alba and Don Luis Martínez de Irujo y Artázcoz, married Bárbara Mirjan Aliend at the Iglesia del Cristo de los Gitanos in Seville, followed by a Reception at the La Motilla farmhouse on the Las Arroyuelas estate.

The church of Cristo de los Gitanos in Seville was the location chosen by the couple to say “I do.” It was not a random location: it is where part of the Duchess of Alba’s ashes rest, as was her wish, and the location where her son organizes a memorial mass every year.

Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, 12th Duchess of Montoro

Bárbara Mirjan, now the Duchess of Arjona wore a Tiara created from a diamond bracelet by the jeweller Grassy.

The bride, who chose a dress designed by Navascués for the occasion, arrived at the church about half an hour later with her father, the best man at the wedding, in an open-top horse-drawn carriage owned by the House of Alba, called La duquesita . The dress, made of crepe with organza godets embroidered with silk threads, featured embroidery of the Virgin of Angustias of the Gypsy Brotherhood, to whom Cayetana de Alba professed a deep devotion, according to the firm itself. She also wore a bracelet turned into a headband from the jewelry store Grassy and art deco- style earrings , a gift from her partner for the day.

The Duke of Arjona was previously married to Genoveva Casanova González-Reinmann and has twin children, Luis Martínez de Irujo y Casanova and Amina Martínez de Irujo y Casanova.
