I’ve come to realise that party season, while a riot for back-to-back glitzy events, is the opposite when it comes to getting dressed. M&S x 16Arlington news landed on my desk this morning, though, and now my opinion may be swaying.
Put it this way; while I love sparkly lights and tinsel at Christmas and New Year’s, I don’t necessarily want to wear them. Come November/December it’s a constant battle of putting on my failsafe wide-leg trousers and a nice top, or venturing out of my comfort zone and risking looking like a total disco ball (not a bad thing, BTW).
This 43-piece collab collection, though? Full of sharply tailored suits and separates with wearable beaded trims and tactful embellishments – exactly what you’d expect from a fusion between both British fashion brands, and much more doable for those of us who’re less confident about sparkling head-to-toe.
“This collaboration has allowed us to explore our signatures in a new way. We wanted it to feel empowering and expressive, bringing confidence and personality into everyday moments, while still capturing the drama and detail we’re known for,” says Marco Capaldo, founder and creative director at 16Arlington. “It’s meant to be worn,” he claims.
