Everyone in London is wearing a camel coat right now

When it comes to wardrobe investment goals, camel coats are high up there on everyone’s wishlist. The classic-yet-contemporary outerwear hero will always look polished and will go with everything (yep, even your down-time leggings and trainers). You’ll struggle to find any winter coat that’s more hardworking, and while they’re always relevant, this season they’ve come into full fruition on the runways at every major show for autumn/winter 2025.

We’ll always stan a transeasonal trench coat, and a quilted puffer jacket is perfect for really icy weather, but camel coats are perennially stylish because they rarely go off-piste thanks to that timeless shade. The delicious caramel, honey-hue that makes every skin tone glow is the reason it never fails to impress fashion people year after year, and is the reason so many fashion editors, celebrities and even royals depend on the silhouette (including Kate Middleton, Hailey Bieber and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley).

It goes without saying that a caramel-hued wool coat will always be the ultimate camel coat, but we want to show you how outerwear of all kinds has been updated in the soft shade this year…

Of course, you can’t mention the words camel and coat without thinking of one brand in particular: Max Mara. From its signature teddy coats to the Manuela Icon design (a Meghan Markle favourite) Max Mara is an expert in the field of caramel-hued winter coats and has the quiet luxury category on lock down. And in Milan this season, the Italian fashion house put floor-sweeping camel coats worn with monochromatic ensembles down the runway – mixing the luxe texture of the coat with ribbed knitwear and leather belts (the double belt trick is one to try).

Meanwhile, at Michael Kors, the designer proved how the trench coat is a transeasonal staple – styled once again with a top-toe-toe tonal look that screams caramel latte. Spending a small fortune on a coat is a big decision, but will pay dividends in the long run as the higher quality will mean your coat will go the distance throughout the years, and even decades (as long as you moth-proof your wardrobe, that is!)

Although of course, if you’re on a high street budget, we’ve got you covered too. “Make it last” should be your mantra with any fashion buy, and whatever price point, you still need to find ‘the one’. So we have (somehow) narrowed it down to the 25 best camel coats that will stand the test of time. And there’s everything from fuzzy faux fur and duffle coats to the more classic camel coats in tailored and structured silhouettes. Buy now, love forever.

Here is GLAMOUR’s edit of the best camel coats to buy now and wear forever…
