Watch the hilarious moment Welsh Councillor ‘falls asleep’ in the middle of a meeting

A Welsh councillor has denied claims she fell asleep during a council meeting, insisting she was merely closing her eyes “to rest them.”

Towyn councillor Bernice McLoughlin appeared to nod off during a Conwy County Council education and skills overview and scrutiny committee meeting.

The webcast footage of the meeting, held in Coed Pella, Colwyn Bay, last Tuesday, was later shared on an anonymous social media account, quickly attracting attention online.

Cllr McLoughlin, who attended the meeting remotely, said it was “cowardly” to post the footage on an anonymous account.

Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity.
