Where Was Tinsel Town Filmed? Sky Original’s Christmas Movie Locations Revealed

Minor Tinsel Town spoilers ahead.

When it comes to settings for Christmas films, our humble British Isles always seem to come up trumps. Who can forget the cosy, English country cottage owned by Kate Winslet’s character in The Holiday? Or Bridget Jones’s fabulous London flat (okay, not technically a Christmas film, but set during Christmas!)? Yes, we really know what we’re doing when it comes to adding much-needed sparkle and joy when the weather outside is frightful.

Here to add to the roster of cosy British Christmas classics is a brand new festive film for 2025 from Sky: Tinsel Town. The Christmas comedy isn’t out yet, but film fans on social media are excited to see the new flick, which stars a line-up of big names.

What is Tinsel Town about?

Starring the unexpected — but absolutely hilarious — pairing of Danny Dyer and Rebel Wilson, Tinsel Town focuses on the main character of Bradley Mack (played by Emmy-award winning actor Kiefer Sutherland), a Hollywood action star with an inflated ego. He’s headed to England in the hopes that he can rebuild his image as a serious actor on the West End — little does he know that his long-suffering agent has other plans for him, and ships him off to a small, snowy village to take part in the local production of Cinderella. Hilarity ensues as he comes across eccentric locals, plus the no-nonsense production choreographer, Jill, played by Rebel Wilson.

As well as the comedy, there’s a classic uplifting lesson that hits you right in the warm and fuzzies — Bradley learns to drop his sense of entitlement, embrace the spirit of Christmas and reconnect with his estranged daughter. Awww.

And alongside the great acting, storyline and feel-good vibes, the setting itself grabbed our attention. Twinkly Christmas markets and quaint village streets featured in the film just feel so fabulously festive. If the village stole your heart, too, here are the full details on where it was filmed below.

Where was Tinsel Town filmed?

The scenes in Tinsel Town were mostly filmed in Knaresborough, a market and spa town on the River Nidd in North Yorkshire. Scenes were also shot in nearby Wetherby and Versa Studios in Leeds.

The main location of Knaresborough features a warren of medieval streets and stone staircases, with a year-round market in the middle of town, making it the perfect spot to shoot a Christmas film.
