Official Portraits of King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway

The Norwegian Royal Court has released new Official Portraits of King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway to launch the updated website of the Norwegian Royal Family.

The Official Portraits of King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway were taken by photographer Kimm Saatvedt in the Mirror Hall of the Royal Palace of Oslo earlier this year.

In connection with the launch of updated websites for The Royal Court, we are publishing new official pictures of the Royal Couple today.

The pictures were taken earlier this year in the Mirror Hall at the Castle by photographer Kimm Saatvedt.

King Harald wore White Tie with the Sash & Star of the Order of St. Olav and the Collar of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.

Queen Sonja wore the Norwegian Emerald Tiara and Parure with the Sash & Star of the Order of St. Olav and King Harald’s Family Order.

Last year, the Norwegian Royal Court shared the New Official Portraits of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.

Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
