Aside from the fact that they’re one of the most versatile winter capsule wardrobe items, they’ve also been on quite a journey in their fashion history.

Despite the return of the skinny jean/skinny trouser, recent runways proclaim that as far as leather is concerned, bootcut, wide-leg and even culotte cuts are where it’s at for 2026. Junya Watanabe and Maison Margiela styled floor-sweeping pairs with coordinating leather jackets and shirts for the full biker effect, while Hermés adopted the cropped-at-the-knee look for their spring collection.

Not to toot our own horn but we are pros at picking the best new season buys, and not just for aesthetic reasons. When it comes to the best leather trousers, we wanted to put styles to the test that tick all the boxes in order to find pairs that look good and that’ll last for longer than just one season.
