Nigel Farage is poised to unveil a mysterious Labour defector today after two top Tories joined Reform UK.

Robert Jenrick and Andrew Rosindell raised Reform’s head-count in the Commons to seven in the last few days – but two major hints then emerged that Sir Keir Starmer may lose one of his members today.

Mr Jenrick revealed there “may be a former Labour MP joining the party in the days ahead” to Times Radio on Monday.

While his new boss Mr Farage suggested Tuesday would see him unveil his coveted Labour defector.

“There will be a Labour defection next week,” he said as he announced the Shadow Justice Secretary’s switch – before later adding: “See you next Tuesday.”

Recruiting a former Labour MP could mark a significant shift in Reform’s defection strategy so far, though it would not be the first time his party moved to court the traditional left.

Ahead of last year’s crunch British Steel vote, Mr Farage, Richard Tice and Andrea Jenkyns joined steelworkers to campaign to nationalise British Steel.

“Only Reform UK are on the side of British workers and industry,” the party said at the time – with the trio pictured holding Unite union-branded placards in Scunthorpe.

While in December, TUC chief Paul Nowak said significant numbers of trade unionists were now backing Reform UK.

“A lot of our members vote Reform,” Mr Nowak said. “We should not be going around calling them racists.”
