Prince William has surprised fans as he made an appearance at a football match on Thursday night. The Prince of Wales travelled to Birmingham to support his beloved Aston Villa in their game against Red Bull Salzburg in their Europa League clash.

Wearing a dark jacket with a dark top and a light shirt underneath, William looked tense and focused and was snapped wincing during the match. The Austrians had scored two goals against the royal’s favourite club by minute 59.

But Aston Villa got one back by minute 64, when Morgan Rogers scored his first Europa League goal of the season as William was seen jumping from his seat and celebrating with glee.

William is a passionate Villa supporter and has turned out for several matches in the past, some of which he’s attended with his children.

The Prince’s trip to Birmingham came after he carried out a series of royal engagements on Wednesday.

Zara Tindall ‘could land huge royal role’ when Prince William becomes King

The Royal Family’s ranks are looking distinctly depleted these days, following Prince Harry’s departure for the US and Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s ignominious internal exile in Norfolk. So it’s likely that Prince William will be looking for some additional reinforcements, when he eventually ascends to the throne.

One solid asset is his cousin Zara Tindall. While she has never sought a title for her self or her husband – former England rugby star Mike Tindall – she has always excelled at the kind of “soft power” that the royals are known for.

Kate Middleton question says everything about how she sees royal kids

It was once a world of six-month tours and distant nurseries, where children like a young Prince Charles saw their parents only in fleeting moments. But for Kate Middleton, the royal rulebook hasn’t just been revised – it has been rewritten.

According to royal expert and author Katie Nicholl, mum-of-three Kate has one non-negotiable priority. Before any engagement or tour is finalized, she doesn’t lead with questions about diplomatic goals or wardrobe requirements. Instead, her first question is always: “How does this work for us as a family?”.

Prince William’s quick-witted response to fan’s playful question at youth centre

Charismatic Prince William joked with a fan at a youth centre in London on Wednesday.

Onlookers laughed at the Prince of Wales’ interaction with the woman at the Ubele Initiative, a community centre which featured in the BBC Children in Need’s We Move FWD programme. She had asked the royal if she could visit him at his new “forever home”, Forest Lodge, as she lives in nearby Windsor, Berkshire.
