The Lady, ITV’s True Crime Drama Starring McKenna-Bruce, Lands So Soon

“Still reeling from her fall from grace, Jane went on to meet charismatic businessman Thomas Cressman and fell deeply in love. But cracks soon began to form in the romance on which Jane had pinned all her hopes, with disastrous consequences.”

What happens in The Lady teaser?

From the outset, the teaser opens with a chilling phone call from Sarah Ferguson to Jane, informing her that the police need to speak with her.

The clip then rewinds to Jane’s early days, when she first receives correspondence from Buckingham Palace inviting her to interview for the role of Sarah’s assistant royal dresser. “This is what I’ve been waiting for,” an elated Jane says.

Later, viewers are introduced to Thomas, as a passionate romance unfolds — though the cracks are immediately apparent. This is where the tone darkens, with one voice ominously admitting: “Jane had a tendency to be over-intense.”

A rapid montage follows, showing Jane going “too far” and becoming increasingly aggressive, before a police detective states: “Jane Andrews is the prime subject in this investigation.”

The teaser culminates in court proceedings, where Jane is accused of the “cold-blooded, premeditated murder” of Thomas. It closes on a haunting line from Sarah herself: “We’ve been through so much together, you and I. However did it come to this?”

Consider us officially on the edge of our seats.
