While there’s now an upgraded version—the Airwrap i.d., complete with Bluetooth capabilities and new attachments—I’ve been using my OG Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete Long for years, and it’s still the fastest way to pull off any look with just one tool. (No surprise, it’s won six Best of Beauty and Reader’s Choice Awards over the years, including a Best of Beauty Breakthrough Award.) Bonus: It’s compatible with the newer i.d. attachments, so you can buy those separately if you’re not ready to dish out the extra money (which, in my opinion, is not yet necessary).
My personal favourite attachment? The curling barrel. Why I love it: I can still hear the sizzle and smell the burnt hair from my high school days—frantically running a straightener over my damp hair before sprinting out the door. If only I had the Dyson Airstrait back then. This one skips hot plates entirely, unlike traditional straighteners that can cause damage and frizz. Instead, it uses unheated tension bars to hold hair in place while high-velocity air up to 285°F—blown at a precise angle—dries and straightens at the same time. “At heats this low, this tool is unlikely to cause damage to even wet hair,” cosmetic chemist Trefor Evans previously told Allure. And for quick touch-ups on dry hair, there’s a setting that goes up to 320°F. Every time I use it, I’m still low-key amazed—it’s like magic.
