The milky white manicure is having a major revival this fall, and Heidi Klum is the latest to wear the viral nail trend.

For a manicure so simple in concept, there are so many ways to wear the milky white look. It can take some experimenting to find the perfect semi-translucent balance, but luckily, Klum’s nail artist shared the exact formula behind hers. And if we can trust anyone on this one, it’s Tom Bachik, creator of this fall’s favourite toasted-nail trend and go-to nail artist for Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, and more of our faves.

To create Klum’s “Soft Milky White Mani,” Bachik used Aprés Nails’ gel shade Baby’s Breath on coffin tips, which he custom-filed into a softer shape. The model and Project Runway host wore her manicure with a fitted black dress and plenty of gold accessories – making a strong case for milky white as a pairing for our wardrobe during autumn and the holidays.

While moody shades tend to spike in popularity this time of year, Klum has been known to favour a light autumn nail. Last year, she convinced us all to try the cozy vanilla-chai nail trend, and she’s also dabbled in the milk-bath realm with coconut-milk nails. Her manicure theme is always polished, but never overdone – a sentiment we’re seeing in lots of the top nail trends today. “I think maybe with all the craziness happening in the world right now, minimalism in beauty feels like a nice balance,” Bachik previously told Glamour. “We still want to feel beautiful, but not in a ‘look at me’ sort of way.”

Although she started the week with a fresh and understated beauty choice, we’re not used to hearing “Heidi Klum” and “mimimalism” in the same sentence during the days before Halloween. We’re willing to bet she’ll swap out her mani to match yet another outrageous costume this Friday for her iconic Heidiween party – but for now, we’re taking this milky white inspo straight to the nail salon.
