This lip liner hack promises a full beat with one product – but does it work?

With summer officially here, those beauty fanatics lucky enough to escape to even sunnier climes will find themselves in a familiarly difficult position when it comes to packing – damn those pesky weight limits!

Fear not, one potential solution for this comes via makeup artist Emily Wood, whose viral lip liner hack promises a full summer makeup look created with just a single product. With over 25m views on TikTok, plus a co-sign from Kim Kardashian, the hack is simple.

Take a lip liner in any shade – we’d recommend pinks, reds, oranges or browns, but be bold and have fun – then draw random shapes and squiggles in the places you want to add some colour and definition. It could be your cheeks, forehead, nose, eyes, lips – whatever takes your fancy. Blend it all out and voilà! A summer makeup look created with just a single product.

Not convinced? The GLAMOUR team put the lip liner hack to the test to see if it’s worth trying out yourself. Keep scrolling to see what they thought when they tried it out…

One of my (very few) flaws is that I cannot, for the life of me, pack light. Even for a short weekend away, I’m that person toting a giant suitcase bursting with clothes, skincare, makeup, body care etc. When I heard about this hack, I was immediately intrigued to find a solution to my lifelong problem. Although it felt quite unnatural scribbling in various places all over my face, it was quite easy to blend out and gave me a nice flush look – exactly how I want to look on holiday. I don’t know if I’ll ever be an efficient light packer, but this hack is definitely one I’d try again in future.
