WATCH IN FULL: Keir Starmer announces Digital ID cards in ‘patriotic renewal’ for British workers

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced plans to introduce digital ID cards in a bid for “patriotic renewal”.

Speaking at the Global Progress Action summit in London, Sir Keir said: “I am announcing this Government will make a new free of charge Digital ID, mandatory for the right to work by the end of this Parliament.

“Let me spell that out, you will not be able to work in the United Kingdom if you do not have Digital ID. It’s as simple as that. Because decent, pragmatic, fair minded people, they want us to tackle the issues that they see around them.”

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
