Watch the moment Ellie Costello furiously slapped down Sir Mel Stride live on GB News after he mocked the Government for infighting.
The Shadow Chancellor was on GBN Breakfast to discuss the latest economic figures showing growth has slowed, but took a jibe at the current state of Sir Keir Starmer’s team at the same time.
A furious row has engulfed Labour after No10 briefed ministers were after the Prime Minister’s job.
However, Wes Streeting lambasted the claims, insisting that he remained loyal to the Labour leader, who has since apologised the Health Secretary for the fallout.
Nevertheless, the “false” briefing has spurred on rumours that Sir Keir could be in for a leadership challenges by top colleagues in the near future, which Sir Mel blasted.
The top Tory mocked: “It shows a particular level of incompetence that a Prime Minister with a massive majority just over a year out from having won a landslide in a General Election, is now fearful for his own position.
“And it does seem just, I think to the outside world, entirely chaotic that No10 appears to have been briefing against Cabinet ministers, Wes Streeting in particular, apparently as a ruse to try and convince people that nobody should try and stand against him
“All this, of course, was spectacularly backfired.”

“We need an economy, a government that is about grip and competence, not chaos and incompetence.”
He said there was a “strong undercurrent and an appetite” to boot out the PM, adding: “What we’re calling for is competent Government.
“We need to have a Government that starts to get a grip, that gets itself out of all these noises, the sort of West End farce that’s been going on in and around No10.”
Ellie was quick to interject, saying: “But with respect, Sir Mel, there’s going to be people raising an eyebrow at those comments when they think about how certainly the last end of that Tory Government was characterised by chaos and infighting and briefing.

The presenter also reminded Mr Stride of the coup to boot Boris Johnson out of office with Liz Truss setting up shop for 49 days until Rishi Sunak took a hold of the reins.
“That was absolute chaos and anarchy there. And you certainly weren’t getting a grip at the time as a Government,” she blasted.
However, Sir Mel simply turned the limelight back onto Labour, saying: “Look, the past in a sense, is the past. And I think as a party, we have said that along with a lot of things that we did very right.
“There were a number of things that we got wrong. And I think you put your finger on on part of that particular story, but we’ve got to deal with what we have at the moment.

“It doesn’t help the country that we have a Prime Minister that is presiding over complete chaos and dysfunction in No10, when there are now calls for his Chief of Staff to be sacked.”
Sir Keir’s chief of staff =Morgan McSweeney has become the centre of attention after it was revealed that No10 staffers briefed against Cabinet ministers, claiming that colleagues were conspiring against their current leader.
Mr Streeting adamantly refuted the claims as he promised that Sir Keir had his backing, while the PM offered his apologies to the Ilford North MP.
The ex-human rights lawyer is set to investigate the source of the accusations Mr Streeting was mounting a coup to become Labour leader, party chairman Anna Turley said on Wednesday.
