Icelandic State Visit to Sweden

The Swedish Royal Family are hosting Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir and Björn Skúlason on their State Visit to Sweden from May 6th to 8th, to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties and their close cooperation in defence, business, and culture. The last Icelandic State Visit to Sweden was in 2018.

Ahead of the State Visit, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel joined President Halla Tómasdóttir and Björn Skúlason for a walk in Princess Estelle’s sculpture park and a tour of Prince Eugen’s Waldemarsudde.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia welcomed President Halla Tómasdóttir and Björn Skúlasonat the Royal Mews ahead of a carriage procession to the Royal Palace of Stockholm, for the Official Welcome Ceremony, during which the King and President received military honours and inspected the guard of honour. Afterwards, the group were joined by other members of the Swedish Royal Family for an Audience and Luncheon inside the Palace.

The President Halla Tómasdóttir  and the King visited the Coast Guard’s surveillance vessel Kbv 313, while Björn Skúlason and Queen Silvia visited Barnahus, a children’s home, and the Silviahemmet Foundation.

In the evening, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a State Banquet in honour of President Halla Tómasdóttir and Björn Skúlason at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. Both the King and President gave speeches. Crown Princess VictoriaPrince DanielPrince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill were also present.

Queen Silvia wore Queen Sofia’s Nine Prong Tiara and the Pink Topaz Parure, the Icelandic Order of the Falcon, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.

Crown Princess Victoria wore the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara, the Icelandic Order of the Falcon, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.

Princess Madeleine wore the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara, the Icelandic Order of the Falcon, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.
