WATCH IN FULL: Moment Sarah Pochin is sworn in as Reform UK’s newest MP

Watch the moment Reform’s newest MP Sarah Pochin is sworn in.

Pochin won the Runcorn and Helsby by-election last week by just six votes and sent shockwaves across the British political sphere.

Labour has traditionally maintained a firm grip on the Cheshire constituency, winning a 52.9 per cent share of the vote at the 2024 general election.

Mike Amesbury, the previous MP, stood down from his duties after he became mired in controversy for sucker-punching a constituent.

He faced criminal charges and had a prison term suspended on appeal.

Reform swooped in to capitalise on the momentum it has gathered in the months following the election by snatching the seat from Labour.

It has sparked questions as to just how far Nigel Farage’s party can go, with party chair Zia Yusuf saying last week’s results showed the country’s two-party dominance has been shattered.

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
