Bridgerton season 4 trailer lands as Netflix confirms release date

“Benedict has always been a little lost — or free depending on the way you want to look at it. But now he’s trying to find something a bit more solid in himself,” Benedict actor Luke Thompson told Netflix’s TUDUM following the announcement.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes herself has also voiced her excitement about Benedict’s time to shine. “He’s a charming man who’s trying to find his way,” she told TUDUM. “He’s very delightful and funny. I’m excited for everybody to watch him.”

But with season 4 focussing on Benedict Bridgerton, there are some new characters to look out for. His “determined and captivating” love interest Sophie Baek will be played by Australian actress Yerin Ha. “What’s striking about Season 4 is that it’s the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale — the romance of it — and the actual reality of the world,” Thompson told TUDUM.

What we know so far is that in Season 4, Benedict will find himself on the hunt for Sophie (played by Ha). Unfortunately for Benedict, he knows the object of his affection only as the mysterious Lady in Silver.

As well as Benedict and Sophie, there will be some new faces twirling around the ballroom. Lady Araminta Gun, played by Katie Leung, is twice-married and twice-widowed, with two daughters debuting on the marriage mart this season. Lady Gun is feeling the pressure to get at least one of her girls married off, but the fabulous, discerning and blunt Araminta doesn’t respond well when anything — or anyone — threatens her standing in society.
