Down Cemetery Road Season 2 Is Happening And We Are Beyond Seated

Down Cemetery Road season 2 is officilally happening! Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson’s hilarious, gripping TV series has officially been renewed for a second season and we could not be more excited about it.

For the uninitiated, Down Cemetery Road is adapted from the novels by Mick Herron (who also wrote the novel series that inspired Apple TV+ sleeper hit Slow Horses). But, in this case, the two leads are two incredible female actors. Emma Thompson plays a jaded private investigator Zoë, while Luther star Ruth Wilson plays Sarah, whose slightly kooky tendencies lead her to sniff out something dodgy about a house explosion and a missing child.

As well as being a high-octane thriller, the series showcases both actors’ insane comedic talent, and it’s no wonder at all that Down Cemetery Road season 2 is in the works. It will be based on Herron’s novels once again, as there is – thankfully – a whole series of novels based on Emma Thompson’s character Zoë Boehm.

“I’m so thrilled that Down Cemetery Road has been enjoyed enough to warrant a second season,” Emma – who executive produces the series as well as starring in it – has said. “The thought of working with the team again, with wonderful Morwenna Banks in the writer’s seat and the indomitable Ruth Wilson who is the best and most brilliant co-star any aging Dame could desire, is frankly far more than I feel I deserve. Zoë Boehm is a punkishly delicious avatar and I can’t wait to pull on her knock-off Doc Martens again. Thanks to everyone who watched! We are go for the next one and it’s all down to you.”

Down Cemetery Road season 2 plot

According to a synopsis, “season two reunites Zoë Boehm (Thompson) and Sarah Trafford (Wilson) chasing down another twisted mystery.

“After a woman falls in front of a train Zoë is called in to investigate, but this seemingly simple case soon upends her life as she and Sarah find themselves navigating the glamorous but ruthless world of black market antiquities. Matters take a deadly turn when they stumble into the path of a brutal serial killer who will stop at nothing to cover up his crimes.”
