Freakier Friday ending explained, from body swapping to the wedding

Freakier Friday is FINALLY here. And we have many questions about how the Freakier Friday ending and how the much anticipated follow-up ties things up.

The sequel sees another body swap happen, less than a week before Lindsay Lohan‘s Anna’s wedding. Anna swaps bodies with her daughter Harper (Julia Butters), and Jamie Lee Curtis‘ Tess swaps with Anna’s soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily (Sophia Hammons). In their new bodies, Lily and Harper set about trying to break up Anna and her fiancé Eric (Manny Jacinto) and their wedding.

But in case you were left with some questions at the film’s conclusion and where things finally landed, here’s the Freakier Friday ending explained.

The Freakier Friday ending, explained: how the body swaps are resolved

Anna and Tessa manage to swap back with Harper and Lily respectively through roughly the same methods as in Freaky Friday – finding empathy which each other’s positions and experiences in life. Harper and Lily end up feeling super guilty for successfully breaking up Anna and Eric, and set about working to reconcile their relationship. This consideration of the feelings of others is the key to restoring all characters to their correct bodies.

Lily and Harper, who are originally high school enemies, end up embracing each other as sisters, and both feel a tighter bond to their respective parents.

The return of Freaky Friday‘s other characters

We are treated to a LOAD of returning characters from the original film, including Chad Michael Murray‘s Jake. He was Anna’s interest in the original film, but it seems they went through an off-screen break up between the first film and now, and have remained friends. Harper does attempt to reignite their romance, but isn’t successful.
