Hannah Waddingham has spoken out about the return of Ted Lasso for season 4, describing it as a “beloved dog that was buried, and now we’ve exhumed it”.
The previous season of the football comedy series, which centres around Jason Sudeikis‘ Ted Lasso, who travels from the US to London’s Richmond to coach a struggling Premier League team, aired in 2023, so it’s high time we got some more joy from the Apple TV+ show.
“It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we’ve exhumed it, and I am here for it,” Hannah told Variety at the Smurfs premiere in Los Angeles, adding that her character has been in her thoughts for a while. “I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She’s my girl. She’s in my bloodstream, so I’m thrilled that it’s been exhumed.”
She added: “I can’t wait to get involved with that and put my penneth in and go shopping for her looks.”
Here’s everything we know so far about Ted Lasso season 4.

Ted Lasso season 4 plot
No plot synopsis has been confirmed yet for season 4, will it pick up from where season 3 left off? Ted Lasso writer and actor Brett Goldstein teased Variety back in June: “Obviously, I can’t tell you a single thing about it, of course, but we’re working on it, and it’s good. It’s exciting to have everyone back together.”
In a statement when the season renewal was announced, Jason Sudeikis, who will return as football coach Lasso, said: “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap, In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
