Lovers of Gossip Girl and Big Little Lies, have we got a TV recommendation for you.
BBC TV series Wild Cherry stars the multi-hyphenate and multi-talented Nicôle Lecky who not only wrote, created, produced, starred in, sung on and won two BAFTAs for her first TV show Mood, has now written, created, produced, co-stars and sings the theme tune for this incredibly good new BBC1 drama. (She was also, incidentally, one of our 6 Women of the Year Spotlight stars last week and also co-stars – as if she has the time – alongside George Clooney and Laura Dern in the new Noah Baumbach film, Jay Kelly.)
The show follows the lives of two mothers and two daughters in the wake of private school scandal that will shake the entire community. And we’re pleased to report that the Wild Cherry cast is looking pretty major.
Glamour has had a sneak preview, and we can also reveal that the show is extremely addictive, touching on the toxicity of social media and how it affects the body image and sexuality of young women, as well as navigating the murky waters of microaggressions and privilege.
Nicôle will star alongside Eve Best and Carmen Ejogo as mothers Juliet and Lorna, as well as younger talent Imogen Faires and Amelia May as daughters and schoolgirls Grave and Allegra.
Also comprising the Wild Cherry cast are Peep Show’s Sophie Winkleman, The Crown’s James Murray, Nathaniel Martello-White, Jason York, Isabelle Allen, Catriona Chandler and Tara Webb.
Speaking to Glamour in an interview as part of our Women of the Year Spotlight series, Lecky opened up about her research process for Wild Cherry, which included speaking to private school teens about the pressured they face in an increasingly online world. “The influence of diet culture affects girls proportionately more than boys, across social media,” she said of her findings. “It’s incessant.”
Glamour has rounded up the key Wild Cherry cast members, who they play in the TV series and where you might have seen them before onscreen.

Nicóle’s incredible one-woman show Super Hoe was adapted for TV and became Mood. In Wild Cherry, she plays life coach Gigi, who is trying to find her place in the very exclusive Richford Lake community where the story is set.
