Regretting You is the latest unmissable Colleen Hoover adaptation – and it’s out this autumn

After the success (and controversy) of the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively, the next Hoover story to hit our screens Regretting You is coming this autumn. And it’s just dropped a hell of a trailer.

The film will star Get Out, M2GAN and Girls star Allison Williams and The Handmaid’s Tale actor McKenna Grace, who play a conflict-ridden mother and daughter who must grapple with the sudden loss of the anchor of their family – and what must happen next.

Director of tearjerker The Fault In Our Stars Josh Boone will direct Regretting You, and Hoover will be an executive producer on the project.

“I think we try to keep as close to the book as possible,” a producer for Regretting You Flavia Viotti told Entertainment Weekly. “We know Colleen Hoover has a strong fan base, and we don’t want to disappoint them. But I don’t think fans will be disappointed.”

Here’s everything we know so far about Regretting You.

Regretting You plot

According to the film’s synopsis, Regretting You “centres on the strained relationship between young mother Morgan Grant and her teenage daughter Clara, exacerbated by Morgan’s husband Chris’s tragic death”.

Some serious secrets come to light after Chris’s death – leading to both Morgan and Clara re-evaluating their approaches to love and life. Yes, tissues at the ready, guys.

Regretting You cast

Joining Allison Williams, Mckenna Grace and Scott Eastwood will be Dave Franco, Mason Thames, Willa Fitzgerald (Scream and The Fall of the House of Usher) and Clancy Brown.

Dave Franco will play Jonah, who becomes a love interest for Morgan’s love interest after the loss of her husband. Incidentally, he was also the boyfriend of Morgan’s sister, Jenny, played by Willa Fitzgerald, who died in the same car crash as Chris. The trailer causes us to wonder if Chris and Jenny were having an affair. Scandalous.
