Netflix’s Seven Dials has landed. An adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1929 novel of the same name, it’s a classic whodunnit, complete with spunky amateur sleuth, a cloaked secret society (yes, that’s right, Traitors fans), a train chase scene, a grumpy old detective, and, of course, a few charming, crumbling English country manor houses filled absolutely bursting with secrets.
As you binge your way through the show, the first question on your mind will likely be: What are the Seven Dials filming locations? As Dee Gregson, the show’s location manager, tells Glamour, the production was filmed in a number of rambling old country homes, while Bath and Bristol stood in for 1920s London and southern England. They also made a quick trip to Spain.

The Seven Dials mystery
Before we get into where the show was filmed, first, a little recap of the show (spoilers ahead!). It all begins at Chimney’s, the country pile where Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce) lives with her mother, the eccentric Lady Caterham (Helena Bonham-Carter). After a house party, one of their guests, Gerry Wade (Corey Mylchreest), is found dead in his bed, a bottle of sleeping pills nearby. The night before, a group of his friends played a prank on him, hiding eight alarm clocks set at various times around the room. In the morning, only seven clocks remained. And they’re ominously lined up on his mantlepiece. When she learns that Gerry was involved in mysterious government work involving something called “seven dials,” her interest is piqued.
Although the police seem ready enough to write it off as a suicide, Bundle is convinced Gerry was killed – and she is on the case. She soon enlists the help of Gerry’s friend Jimmy Thesiger (Edward Bluemel) and finds herself working alongside (actual professional) detective Superintendent Battle (Martin Freeman). Her investigations take her on a journey through seedy nightclubs, country estates and government meetings. And, yes, she eventually catches the unlikely killer.

Ronda, Spain
The show opens in Spain, where we see Iain Glen (who, it turns out, is Bundle’s father) in a bullring, where he is killed. Later in the show, we return to Spain to discover that Dr. Cyril Matip (Nyasha Hatendi) was, apparently, working with Bundle’s dad. These sunny scenes were shot in Ronda.
Badminton House, Gloucestershire
One of the biggest set pieces is Chimneys, Bundle’s country home, which was filmed at Gloucestershire’s Badminton House.
“We wanted romance for Chimneys, and for it to be crumbling but beautiful,” director Chris Sweeney said. “And I based a lot of stuff on things like Cecil Beaton’s house, Reddish House, which were crumbling, and had pelargoniums everywhere. We sort of combined Cecil Beaton and Vita Sackville-West for Lady Caterham. Badminton House delivered on that, because it’s a private home, it’s sort of romantically crumbly, but also completely lavish and beautiful. And the people who live there are charming and lovely, and I think that comes across in the home, and that was a real find, because ultimately, most of these incredible houses are not private and available to rent.”
