The Black Doves Season 2 Cast Is Epic – Here’s Everyone Joining Keira Knightley

What an early Christmas gift: Black Doves is back in production for season 2.

Keira Knightley playing a vengeful secret agent? We never knew we needed this in our lives. Season 1 was a hit – following Knightley’s Helen set out to avenge her lover, who was murdered by an unknown party on London‘s South Bank – and now the second instalment of the series is on its way.

Keira Knightley is back, of course, along with key stars Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire, Andrew Buchan, who plays Helen’s busband, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey and Molly Chesworth.

“I couldn’t be more excited to delve back into the world of our murderous little spy family,” Black Doves writer, creator, and executive producer Joe Barton has told Netflix. “To have so many [members] of our amazing cast returning and also being able to add some of my absolute favourite actors into the mix is such a great joy. Downing Street will never be the same.”

What is Black Doves season 2 about?

A synopsis from Netflix’s Tudum reads as follows: “Helen (Knightley) is still betraying her nation’s secrets to the covert organisation she serves, the Black Doves. But after the misadventures of last Christmas, and with her husband, Wallace (Andrew Buchan), preparing to become prime minister, she’s walking a more treacherous line than ever.

“As Helen’s enigmatic handler, Mrs. Reed (Sarah Lancashire), is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, Helen is reunited with her best friend, Sam (Ben Whishaw).
