The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3’s time jump is longer than we thought

Spencer also confirmed the longer time jump, saying: “It’s a four-year time jump, so Taylor is in college, she wants to move to New York, she wants to be this PR superstar. We get to meet her mum for the first time, which is really interesting. We get to see how Taylor grew up and her dynamic with her mum.”

The duo also teased that the The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 time jump will majorly affect Steven and Taylor’s relationship. “I’d say we are not where we left off at the end of season 2,” Kaufman teased. “The past four years, they have been breaking up, getting back together, and breaking up again.”

Lola Tung also previously confirmed the four-year time jump while speaking to Teen Vogue, though in a more mathematical way. The star admitted it was nice to play her age during The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3. If we do a little math, Tung was 21 while filming season 3, and when we last saw Belly in season 2, she was 17 years old, so, yes, that’s a four-year difference.

A four-year time jump definitely makes more sense for what we know so far about The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, though we might also get some more peeks throughout the season before we get to the final timeline, likely to see more of Belly and Jeremiah’s relationship through the years. Think of it as mini time jumps before we get to the full time jump. After all, author Jenny Han has already confirmed that some of the pictures we have gotten as teasers for season 3 are actually throwbacks.

Back in October, Gavin Casalegno and Lol Tung were spotted filming a scene in Paris, where Jeremiah chases after Belly. Many believe the Paris trip on the show corresponds with Belly’s trip to Spain in the book, which happens during her junior year of university.

Previously, and as eagle-eyed fans had noticed, Prime Video has confirmed that season 3 picks up at the end of Belly’s junior year at college as she prepares to head to Cousins with Jeremiah. So, I guess be ready to jump back and forth quite a bit?
