This Is The One Festive Activity In London You Cannot Miss This Christmas

Holidays are coming, guys. Whether you’re a London local or visiting the capital for a festive day or weekend, Glamour has one top recommendation. Somerset House is calling: Get your skates on and get down to Somerset House.

Skate at Somerset House is officially open for business, inviting those who love a Christmassy celebration on ice to live their dream. And, to top it off, Somerset House itself is celebrating its 25th birthday, so expect even more celebratory and sparkly vibes than your average year.

Glamour‘s top tip is to make time for a drink at Virgin Atlantic’s Clubhouse lounge clubhouse, great the perfect location for people watching, from awkward first dates to budding ice skating prodigies taking to the ice. Sip on Mexican margaritas or New York City inspired martinis, and nibble on some of the best dishes from the airline’s lounges from all over the world. Think truffle parmesan popcorn and Cherry Pie in the Sky ice cream.

The Twinings hot chocolate is also to die for, a velvety Swiss choccie treat to warm your body after a stint on the ice. Chai and other herbal tea options are also available, but we can’t recommend the hot choc enough.

Other must-have moments include taking snaps at Skate’s photobooth (for the memories, of course) and an obligatory selfie in front of Somerset House’s 40-foot Christmas tree, decorated with baubles from Las Vegas.

We’ve also got some intel: if you’re looking for a touch of summer vibes, there will also be a special Grenada-themed takeover night at Skate on 4th December, where the entire courtyard is transformed into a celebration of the island.

Not only the place to be, Skate at Somerset House is the place to be seen. From Paloma Faith to Jude Law to previous Glamour Women of the Year host Katherine Ryan, many a celeb has been spotted sailing around the rink.

Here’s Glamour’s round up of the best celeb sightings at Skate at Somerset House
