Leo Woodall has once again been cast as a leading man post One Day, this time starring opposite Rachel Weisz in Netflix TV series Vladimir.
Based on the critically acclaimed novel by Julia May Jonas, it’s set to explore power dynamics, obsession and desire between a woman (Weisz) and her captivating co-worker, played by Woodall. After his rather successful turn as the younger lover of Bridget Jones in this year’s Mad About The Boy (as well as some excellent turns in The White Lotus and One Day), we are rather keen to see more of him, we won’t lie.
Weisz, who is beyond beguiling and sexy in everything she does – from starring in The Favourite with Olivia Coleman and Emma Stone to queer drama Disobedience and My Cousin Rachel – will also executive produce, alongside Catastrophe and Bad Sisters actor and creator Sharon Horgan.
“With Kate Robin’s expertise in crafting layered, darkly comedic female stories, a script that deftly examines the complexity of attraction and moral ambiguities, and the incomparable Rachel Weisz leading the cast, this project is a powerhouse collaboration of talented women,” Tracey Pakosta, vice president of comedy series at Netflix, has said. “We can’t wait for our fans to be as obsessed with Vladimir as we are.”
Stefania D’Alessandro
“I fell in love with Julia’s writing from the very first paragraph,” Horgan has said. “I feel very lucky and incredibly excited for Merman [Horgan’s production company] to bring Vladimir to life… Getting to partner with Netflix and have Rachel attached is a thrill, and a testament to the brilliance of the scripts.”
Here’s everything else we know so far about Vladimir.
