The race is back on. Or at least, it will be very soon. Everyone’s favourite sprint across the globe is returning to our screens with another celebrity rendition. Yes, Celebrity Race Across the World 2025 is a go.
For the uninitiated, here’s a little recap on what you can expect from Race Across the World. The BBC reality show sees five pairs (friends, couples, family members) racing from checkpoint to checkpoint on a journey across the world — or at least part of it. The catch? They have no phones and can only spend cash that comes to the amount of a single flight from the first checkpoint to the final one. It’s a lot of trains, buses, taxis and running — and, of course, there’s plenty of personal growth along the way.
The celeb version of the beloved show was introduced back in 2023 when celebrity meteorologist Alex Beresford and his father, Noel, came in first. Last year, BBC Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills and his husband Sam were victorious. But which lucky celebs will be the fastest and wiliest this year?
When does Celebrity Race Across the World 2025 start?
Celebrity Race Across the World 2025 is coming soon — unfortunately, we just don’t know how soon yet.
Last year’s winner Scott Mills announced on his radio show that the third season would hit the BBC “in the autumn”, but an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
The first two seasons came to us in September, so here’s hoping it won’t be long to wait now.
Who is competing in Celebrity Race Across the World 2025?
This year, only four pairs will be taking part.
Actor Dylan Llewellyn, who you probably know best as James from Derry Girls or Jack from Big Boys, will be participating with his mum Jackie. “There was a lot of ups and downs,” Llewellyn revealed with a smile, adding, “A lot of crying, a lot of tears.”
BBC Woman’s Hour presenter Anita Rani is also set to take part with her dad Bal. “Yeah, I got to do the dream program,” she said in her announcement video.
BBC The One Show presenter Roman Kemp is on board with his sister Harleymoon. “A pretty amazing thing that we did,” he said.
And finally, we have actress and singer Molly Rainford with her fiancé Tyler.
Where will Celebrity Race Across the World 2025 be held?
This year, the BBC will take us to Central America. The four pairs will begin their journey in Mexico and will head 6,000 km south to Colombia.
“This series takes the race through one of the most diverse and visually stunning routes yet, spanning the undiscovered Caribbean and Pacific coast of Central America,” reads the BBC press release.
“The journey begins on the idyllic Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres, just off the easternmost point of Mexico and challenges teams to race 5,900km to reach the finish line in the remote and breathtaking Península de La Guajira in Colombia – the gateway to South America.”
