Where is Virgin Island filmed?

Found yourself asking where is Virgin Island filmed? Whilst watching the show through your fingers. Us too.

The new reality series from Channel 4, has been met with mixed feelings and reviews since it premiered on May 12th. It’s a show that, given the title, was likely coveting shock and hoping to get people talking, which it has certainly achieved.

On Virgin Island, we follow 12 participants on a two-week “radical retreat”, which is led by sexologists Danielle Harel and Celeste Hirschman, plus a team of experts. And, you guessed it, the 12 participants are virgins. The idea is that during the treat, they will explore any hangups around physical intimacy and emotional vulnerability, via a series of workshops. Some viewers have questioned the appropriateness of the show, and its blurred boundaries, after one therapist appeared to flirt with one of the contestants in their sessions.

Away from the controversy, Virgin Island is filmed on an idyllic Mediterranean island that had us instantly trying to find out how we can stay there, immediately.

Where is Virgin Island filmed?

If you’ve been watching Virgin Island on Channel 4 and wondering where that dreamy, sun-drenched paradise is — spoiler: it’s not the Caribbean. The series was filmed on Obonjan, a private, uninhabited island just off the coast of Croatia, and the cast stayed at the stylish Obonjan Island Resort. Open only during the summer season (8th July to 4th September), the four-star retreat offers a Mediterranean-meets-glamping vibe, with stays starting from around €115 (£97) per night. Accommodation options range from minimalist Island Homes (suitable for up to four guests) to luxe Glamping Lodges and classic O-Tents for couples or trios.
