Style capri jeans as you would any other pair for a slightly dressy occasion; we love Gigi Hadid’s tank top and ballet flats situation, and we also suggest a white button-down and slingback heels. (Sneakers aren’t quite right here, so go with loafers, boots, or any of the styles mentioned above instead).
Wider capris, also known as culottes or gauchos, look great with slouchy sweaters, tight-fitting T-shirts, or trim blazers. The most important part of any great capri pants look, though, is confidence—wear them with the (rightful) attitude that you’re cool and ahead of the curve.
Best capri pants
If you’re taking the trend to the office or a nice brunch, you’ll need a dressier pick. Zara’s Capri pants with vents are just cropped enough to enter capri territory, making them a great entry-level find.
Tighter gems from Anthropologie, Topshop at ASOS, and Mango hew more toward classic pedal pushers — they could almost pass for perfect vintage-store finds. Particularly in gingham and leopard print (the latter, a print that adorned SS24 runways including Nina Ricci, Celine and Dolce & Gabbana – as well as AW24 shows by Dior, Isabel Marant and Zimmermann).
Try wearing them with almond-toe ballet flats, simple walking sandals, or comfortable heels to keep your outfit feeling elevated.
Best capri leggings
Again, leggings are the safest way to give this trend a go, since you probably already own a few cropped pairs anyway.
Kendall Jenner recently wore an Alo pair with a matching sports bra, making it ridiculously easy to recreate the look at home. Sandy Liang’s option comes with a built-in miniskirt, and we’re shocked it’s still in stock, given it’s one of the runway pieces that kicked off this whole trend. Elsewhere, cropped H&M Move and Lululemon leggings are just as cute; try them with an oversized hoodie and sporty trainers.
Best capri jeans
Long, loose jorts are going to be everywhere this summer, and you can get in on the look with roomy capri jeans.
If you prefer the skinnier styles of the aughts, you’ll still find plenty of options. (The white Mango pair would look incredible with a button-down and black flats). As with capri trousers, stay away from sneakers in favour of dressier footwear like fisherman sandals and strappy heels; the high-low contrast feels now.
