We are amidst the season for winter nuptials – and, as such, I’m on the hunt for the best winter wedding guest dresses. Finding said ‘fit, i.e. something that’s the perfect mix of magical, modest and show-stopping (but not attention-stealing), is where the challenge lies though.

Contrary to popular belief, marriages aren’t limited to the months of May-August; lots of people choose a festive environment for their vows. If you happen to be invited to witness some of them, it’s good news: the runways have plenty of inspo for you when it comes to what to wear.

From the scarlet red and liquorice hues spotted on the McQueen and Hermès runways (yes, you can wear black to a wedding), to the velvet, tulle, sequin and satin fabrics that come hand-in-hand with the season, I’ve found an array of Instagram-worthy frocks that’ll stand out both on your feed and IRL. And if you’re not one for occasion dresses, winter is the time to turn your attention to alternative wedding guest outfits (think trouser suits, midi skirts, statement blazers) or wedding guest jumpsuits.

I’ll openly admit I am not the ‘average size’ (whatever that is) of a woman in the UK; I’m 6ft tall. So, in a conscious bid to showcase what the best winter wedding guest dresses look like on a few different heights, shapes and sizes – as well as my own, of course – I roped in my fellow Glamour colleagues Robyn Eugene and Shani Cohen (seen above) to road-test a few different new-in styles.
