Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Lawrence Took Their Handbags by The Row on a Dinner Date

Forget men — the hottest date in town will always be a bestie and some fresh gossip. Case in point: Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Lawrence stepping out for a girls night in NYC less than 24 hours after Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez did the same. Not a man in sight!

Johnson and Lawrence — who both just returned from Cannes, where they were promoting their respective new films — not only share a love for the work they do in front of the camera, they also have a similar styles, down to the twinning haircuts. (Lawrence debuted her fringe last year, while Johnson debuted her fringe in utero, I assume.)

Both women also have an affinity for The Row and brought along their handbags from the Olsen twins’ luxury brand. Johnson added a pop of colour to her tailored look with the ’90s bag in bright red, while Lawrence opted for the more structured Lady bag in espresso-coloured alligator leather.

Is this an ad for The Row, or just a coincidence? To be honest, the only duo more powerful than Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Lawrence in an ad campaign together would be the camera-shy Olsen twins themselves.

Johnson’s look is a riff on her typical uniform — boxy outerwear and tailored trousers — while Lawrence added a bit of her signature boho flair to her black trench coat with layered gold statement necklaces. In case you hadn’t heard, big pendants and chunky jewellery are so back!

While they were both in the French Riviera last month, the A-list actors met up at the after-party for Lawrence’s new film, Die, My Love, where Johnson put her own spin on the boho trend in a paisley jacket and amber-tinted glasses.

As the trend takes over this summer, let Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Lawrence be the blueprint for minimalists who are boho-curious. They’ll never lead us astray.
