Don’t ever let anyone tell you it isn’t possible. Gigi Hadid has proven that you can, actually, have both chic shoes and dry feet at the same time in rainy weather. You just need to get a little creative with your choices. The next time you have somewhere to be on a wet and miserable day, why not swap the boring Wellies for a pair of colourful combat boots, like the ones Hadid was spotted wearing in November in New York City.
The supermodel was photographed wearing an ankle-length textured brown overcoat with brown trousers (brown-fits are also on trend, at the moment) and what looks like a camo-print tee. She carried a black clutch under one arm and wore her hair in a model-off-duty bun. Keeping her feet dry were rubber moto boots in a bright hunter green colour, which matched the vibe of the tee while also notching a win for the wrong shoe theory.

Somewhere along the line, rain boots became synonymous with the Princess Diana-approved Hunter boot. Now, don’t get it twisted, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the classic Hunter boot, which is especially trendy this autumn. It’s just that there is also something to be said for a quirky, unexpected weatherproof shoe. Like the so-ugly-they’re-cute rubber clogs Bella Hadid once wore with white briefs, of all things.
Moto boots of all kinds are enjoying a revival this season, and we’ve seen them styled with skirts, leggings, dresses, and jeans. But they’re also an especially fashion-y way to do rain boots. There are Jimmy Choo’s biker rain boots, as well as a more understated style from Rag & Bone. In fact, you can find several short lace-up styles of rain boots from Hunter, in a variety of colours.
We promise. You don’t have to literally be Gigi Hadid in order to make rain boots look cool.
