Last time I wore a long boho skirt, it was 2003 and I was desperately trying to channel my free-spirited style icon of the moment (Sienna Miller, of course) via every hippie accessory possible. There were baggy boots, hip belts and braided headbands too – but my favourite piece was an ankle-grazing maxi skirt that offered just the right amount of slouchy, barefoot spirit.
Fast-forward to today, and she’s only gone and done it again. Buoyed by the resurgence of her ever-favourite designer, Chloé, boho is officially back – and Sienna is our poster girl once more.
Happily, the long boho skirt has had a 2025 update, much like the rest of the bohemian resurgence. These loose, flowing styles lend themselves perfectly to laidback styling, though can just as easily be amped up should you wish. You can lean all the way into the boho look with layers, ruffles and fringe aplenty, or add some juxtaposition with a motorcycle jacket or a little denim (more on that later), too.
And while bohemian fashion is typically associated with a summer of love, that doesn’t mean these floaty staples don’t transcend seasons – in fact, there are plenty of silky, lace-trimmed styles that make for perfect winter layering pieces.
So long live bohemia – and without further ado, here’s how I’ll be styling my boho maxi skirt this winter and beyond.

Our Patron Saint of Boho has spoken – if you want to soften up a long boho skirt for cosy season, it’s all about adding layers. Knee-high boots, a chunky belt and that sassy leg split makes this look perfectly appropriate for evening-out dressing, as Sienna demonstrates impeccably.
