Wondering how to use boob tape? You’re not alone. With the festive season upon us, thoughts are turning towards mulled wine, minced pies, and, of course, party outfits. Sequinned, velveted, embroidered, shimmering — the fashion at this time of year takes a real turn into high camp, with a ‘more is more’ approach adopted by all.
And even though the weather outside might be frightful, fashion always seems to take on a sexier (read: skimpier) vibe at this time of year — hemlines get shorter, necklines scoop lower, and designs like backless dresses become more popular in shops. However, with that comes an age-old dilemma: What to do with our boobs?
Yes, there’s always the option to bring out the Nice Bra that sits at the back of the drawer, but sometimes straps can just spoil an outfit, plus bras can be uncomfortable at the best of times, never mind when they’re fancy ones with hard wiring and lacy straps that cut into the skin.
Then you have sticky bras, but sometimes they don’t stick on to skin properly, and can look lumpy under clothing. So, with that in mind, it’s time to bring out the third option… boob tape.
How to use boob tape
The good thing about boob tape is that there are so many different ways to use it, and with so many different outfits, too. The strength of the tape helps hold breasts in place securely all night, but also allows you the flexibility and comfort to move with ease.
It can be used differently for every person and every different size of breasts, so there’s not really one set way to use it, which is why it’s so great.
However, if you’re using it for the first time, here’s a quick guide on how to get started:
- Start with the tape underneath each breast and bring it over the breast vertically, making sure you don’t bring the tape too high in front of the neckline of your outfit.
- Add some pieces horizontally as needed to provide support, but make sure that no tape is poking out at the sides.
How to use boob tape for low-cut, backless dresses
Low-cut, backless dresses bring up a dilemma when deciding what underwear to wear — there’s essentially nowhere to hide straps or clasps, so how to make sure you look supported, especially for those with larger chests? Boob tape will work perfectly.
