The British Royal Family hosted King Hussein and Queen Dina of Jordan on their visit to London on this day in 1955, 70 years ago, just a few months after their Wedding Ceremony in Amman.

King Hussein and Queen Dina were received by the Duke of Gloucester at Northolt Airport upon their arrival in London.

Prince Charles and Princess Anne joined the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh to receive King Hussein and Queen Dina at Windsor Castle.

King Hussein and Queen Dina also joined the Queen to watch the Royal Windsor Polo Tournament at Smith’s Lawn in Windsor Great Park.

King Hussein and Queen Dina (wearing her Diamond Tiara) also attended Gala Dinner held at 10 Downing Street in London.

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
