How To Make ‘Proffee’, The Iced Coffee Protein Shake Going Viral On TikTok

As 2025 delivers us the summer heat that we deserve, many of us quite urgently need to know how to make an iced coffee.

Enter ‘proffee’, a drink made with iced coffee or espresso and a protein shake. Loads of TikTokers have uploaded clips of their proffee recipes, most commonly by adding two or three shots of espresso over ice, before pouring over a pre-made protein shake.

The trend is proving popular with fitness TikTokers, who are looking to up their protein intake while getting a caffeine hit. Other users also choose to add flavoured syrup and whipped cream to make their proffee a delicious sweet treat.

Most proffee clips on TikTok use Premier Protein and Quest Protein shakes which are US brands, so you could try Huel’s Ready-To-Drink Protein Shakes, or you could whip up your own using your favourite protein powder.

Health experts have even given the beverage their seal of approval (minus the sugary syrup and cream, obv), confirming that proffee is a great way to add more protein to your diet. Protein is found in every cell in our bodies, and we use to build and preserve lean muscle mass.

How much protein you need depends on various factors such as your activity level, age and weight. According to the British Heart Foundation, most adults need around 0.75g of protein per kilo of body weight per day (for the average woman, this is 45g, or 55g for men).

Seriously, what would we do without TikTok? Not only is the platform serving us viral beauty hack after viral beauty hack – covering your face in plasters to fight acne, anyone? – it’s turning us into what we can only describe as culinary geniuses.
