Simba Earth Escape Mattress Review 2025

The Simba Earth Escape Mattress came into my life shortly after my boyfriend and I took the plunge and moved in together. Alongside the usual teething problems – socks on the floor, toilet seat left up – there was one challenge I hadn’t anticipated: sharing my double bed with a large man sprawling across it, while I struggled to hold on to the very edge just to get some sleep. It was time for an upgrade.

After hearing the hype about Simba’s mattresses for years, namely the hybrid options, I was intrigued to try the brand out for myself. Although hybrid mattresses are incredible for so many people, I have always found that memory foam is not quite right for me, so I was thrilled to find the Earth range. Every mattress in this range features a mix of springs and wool, and I was really excited to try this combination. I chose to go with the Escape mattress, hoping it would be just that, an escape from my double bed dilemma.

I’ve been sleeping on my new mattress for about three months, all the while noting down my thoughts and feelings about the Escape – everything from the delivery experience, to comfort, to price point. Read on for my verdict.

Simba Earth Escape mattress first impressions

Let’s start at the beginning: delivery and set up. Having bought mattresses from various well-known brands before, I was expecting the common ‘bed-in-a-box’ service. To my delight, I received Simba’s free VIP delivery service, which was brilliant – it arrived flat, and two friendly, very strong chaps carried my (48kg!) mattress up the awkward, narrow, steep staircase to my first floor flat, all whilst remaining cheerful and helpful. You wouldn’t catch me with a smile on my face after that mammoth effort.

Once the mattress was in place on my bed frame, my boyfriend and I waited mere moments for the delivery people to leave before leaping on the bed with anticipation and – hoorah – joy and genuine wonder at how comfortable it was. And the space – upgrading from a double to a king size was actually astounding. The difference that extra room makes is not to be scoffed at, and I wish I had sized up years ago.

GLAMOUR road test: comfort and design

I can honestly say I’ve never had a more comfortable bed, and I think it’s down to the Escape’s ten layers of support. The CoreMax™ base consists of 1,000 high carbon steel, pocketed springs which are arranged into different zones of firmness to create a clever support design, sort of contouring to your body as you lay down. It also has a steel frame which reinforces all the edges – so on the rare occasion I still end up on the edge of the bed, I don’t feel like I’m about to roll off. The amount and tension of springs reduces motion transfer, too, so I no longer notice my boyfriend turning in his sleep.
