Charlotte Casiraghi

Happy Birthday to Charlotte Casiraghi, who turns 39 today! The Socialite, Philosopher, Equestrian and Philosopher is the niece of the Prince of Monaco and the eldest granddaughter of the iconic Princess Grace.

The only daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and industrialist Stefano Casiraghi, Charlotte is the sister of Andrea and Pierre Casiraghi and Princess Alexandra of Hanover and the eldest granddaughter of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco. Named after her great-grandmother, Princess Charlotte, Duchess of Valentinois, her godparents are Countess Albina du Boisrouvray and Massimo Bianci. Growing up in Monaco until her father was killed in a boating accident in 1990, the family moved to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in France to escape press intrusion, and then later to the Parisian suburb of Fontainebleau after her mother’s third marriage.

She earned a Licence de Philosophie (B.A.) from the University of Paris IV: Paris-Sorbonne before studying philosophy at the Sciences Po Doctoral School and at the Catholic University of Paris. Charlotte Casiraghi founded Les Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco, a think tank on philosophy where contemporary issues and new publications in the field of philosophy are discussed.

A brand ambassador for Chanel and the face for Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2021 campaign, Charlotte Casiraghi became the official ambassador for the equestrian collections of Gucci in 2010, and has also worked with Yves Saint Laurent and Montblanc during her modelling career, while also focusing on fashion in her time as a published writer and magazine editor. The honorary president of the Global Champions Tour, she has been a part of show jumping competitions since 2001 though she has limited her participation since 2015.

In 2013, Charlotte Casiraghi had a son, Raphaël, with comedian and actor Gad Elmaleh and had a second son, Balthazar, with film producer Dimitri Rassam in 2018, a year before the two got married at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco and the Abbey of Sainte-Marie de Pierredon. The two have since separated.

We wish Charlotte Casiraghi a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
