Zelenskyy in Switzerland to meet with Trump

KYIV — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he is set to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump Thursday afternoon.

“The President has arrived in Switzerland, where he is planning to take part in the World Economic Forum in Davos and meet U.S. President Trump,” Zelenskyy’s office said Thursday morning in a WhatsApp chat with several reporters.

The meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Trump announced on Wednesday that he is going to meet with Zelenskyy in Davos, but the Ukrainian leader was still in Kyiv, dealing with the national emergency caused by relentless Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy said earlier this week that he will come to Davos only if “real results for Ukraine” are on the table. “No one needs empty politics or talks with no results,” he said.

Ukraine had hoped to sign either a $800 billion prosperity deal or security guarantees with the U.S. president, but the Davos conference has been overtaken by the tensions over Greenland.

LP Staff Writers

Writers at Lord’s Press come from a range of professional backgrounds, including history, diplomacy, heraldry, and public administration. Many publish anonymously or under initials—a practice that reflects the publication’s long-standing emphasis on discretion and editorial objectivity. While they bring expertise in European nobility, protocol, and archival research, their role is not to opine, but to document. Their focus remains on accuracy, historical integrity, and the preservation of events and individuals whose significance might otherwise go unrecorded.
