The British royal family is always in the spotlight, but the Andrew drama has definitely put more eyes on the royals, how they behave, what they do, and what they condone. Perhaps this has to do with Prince William’s reported plans to slim down the monarchy once he’s King. Perhaps it was always his plan. Either way, what does the heir to the throne have in mind for the future and for his brother?
Well, reportedly, Harry will not be keeping his title. And there are signs he might already be preparing for it? Page Six reported that just last week, Harry participated in the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship in Aspen, Colorado, where he kept a low profile and competed under the name Harry Wales. According to the outlet, he wanted a day of “no titles, just fun,” spending time with close friend Nacho Figueras.

“Harry was introduced as Harry Wales, with no royal title mentioned ever or anywhere,” an insider told the outlet.
That, of course, doesn’t mean Harry is anything other than royalty. “Off the field though, security wouldn’t let any photographers near him,” the insider noted.
It’s unclear why Harry decided to use Wales, considering he and Meghan Markle formally use Sussex as their last name. Harry used to go by Harry Wales while serving in the British military.
Markle even referred to the last name question on her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, confirming she uses the last name Sussex. “You know I’m Sussex now,” she told guest Mindy Kaling, explaining that it was meaningful to share a last name with her and Harry’s two kids: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

“You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children,’” she said. “It just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name.’”
This all comes after recent reports from NewsNationNow indicated that the Andrew situation has fortified William’s decisions about titles going forward. “Getting rid of Andrew has been a very useful exercise in showing what’s possible regarding titles,” royal historian Andrew Lownie said. “And it’s a warning shot across Harry’s bow.”
“William will further slim down the monarchy,” Lownie added, explaining that titles will be stripped from all nonworking royals, including Harry and Meghan.
According to RadarOnline.com this possibility has left Markle “panicked and defiant,” with the outlet reporting she’s “preparing to go legal” before it happens. “Meghan’s really anxious that William could one day use his position to strip her of the title. She’s been telling friends, ‘No one’s taking my ‘Duchess’ away.’ To her, it’s so much more than a title – it’s tied to who she is, what she’s built and how the world sees her. Losing it would feel like being written out of the story entirely,” a source said.

Whatever happens, for now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still retain their titles and likely would at least until Prince William ascends to the throne. And then, well, it might all depend on how Harry’s reconciliation with his family goes.
